Fiji’s most certified timber
Caribbean pine, Pinus caribaea, is the backbone of Fiji’s plantation forestry — fast-growing, abundant, and managed across the country’s drier western zones. It is also Fiji’s longest-certified timber: the national pine plantation operation has held FSC certification since 2013, earned under pressure from demanding international buyers and maintained ever since.
For buyers, that means a genuinely certified softwood with a proven, decade-long chain of custody behind it.
A versatile, treatable softwood
Pine is the timber that does the unglamorous work well. It saws, machines, nails and glues with no fuss, and — importantly — takes preservative treatment readily, which lifts a moderately durable softwood into a dependable material for structural framing, exterior joinery, fencing and landscaping.
The timber is a pale honey colour with clear, straight grain and a clean, even texture. It finishes well when a painted or stained result is wanted, and its consistency makes it a reliable choice for high-volume joinery and packaging.
